CarPlay for BMW (F and G Series) equipped with NBT EVO ID5 or ID6 system (cars manufactured after 07/2016). Both ID5 and ID6 have EVO Maps.

1. Check Your Firmware Version

Navigation → Options Button → Settings → Position & Version History → Check Version

If you have EVO Maps, you have an EVO unit.

CarPlay activation on EVO units is possible even without a Wi-Fi antenna, but lack of an antenna will make connection impossible. Installation of the antenna is very simple.

We can check if your unit has a Wi-Fi antenna by your car’s VIN.

2. Activate via USB (EVO)

For firmware versions NBTevo_H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, you can activate CarPlay via USB coding. The process is simple: we send an activation file + instructions via email. Put the file on a USB flash drive, insert it into the USB port in your vehicle armrest, your navigation unit will reboot and CarPlay will be activated.

3. Activate via ENET Cable (EVO)

For firmware versions NBTevo_P, Q, R, S, U, V, W, X, Y...

ENET cable (not included / we don’t sell it)
Mac or Windows 10/11 laptop – firewall & antivirus OFF
Strong and stable internet connection

Process takes 2 minutes and requires no computer or coding skills — simply run our Feature Installer using the instructions we send you.

4. CarPlay Full-Screen vs Split-Screen

Full-screen is possible only from firmware version N (NBTevo_N, O, P, Q, R, S, U, V, W, Y, Z…). For versions H, I, J, K, L, M, full screen will not work and Split-Screen mode applies. Firmware update is needed for Full-Screen mode to work.
