BMW Feature Installer & FSC Codes Activation
BMW Feature Installer imports VIN-specific FSC activation codes into compatible BMW and MINI iDrive head units. The correct code and installation method depend on the actual head unit, firmware, hardware, region and requested function. Follow these three steps before ordering.
1. Start with a BMW VIN Check
Use our VIN Check first to review the vehicle's factory configuration and identify the most likely iDrive system. This reduces the risk of ordering an FSC package for the wrong head unit or function.
Check BMW compatibility by VIN
If the head unit has ever been replaced or modified, also prepare a clear photo of the navigation version screen and describe the previous work.
2. Choose the Current Feature Installer FSC Code Product
After confirming the head unit and required function, use the current product to select the appropriate code or FSC package for a supported NBT, NBT EVO or EntryNav2 system.
View BMW Feature Installer FSC Codes
Feature Installer imports the supplied activation package; it does not generate a valid code by itself. The package must match the VIN, head-unit family, software environment, region and requested function. Availability for ECE, USA and Asia configurations remains subject to compatibility verification.
3. Use WhatsApp When Compatibility Is Unclear
Use WhatsApp as the fallback when the VIN result is inconclusive, the head unit was replaced, the car has a retrofit, the requested function is unclear or a previous activation failed.
Please send the full 17-character VIN, the function you want, a photo of the iDrive version screen and details of any replaced or retrofitted head unit. If there is an error, include its exact text or a clear photo.

BMW Head-Unit Compatibility Boundaries
NBT
NBT is an older head-unit family and is not the same as NBT EVO. It can use compatible FSC functions and navigation-related packages, but an FSC code cannot turn NBT into EVO or add EVO-only hardware features. NBT does not natively provide the same CarPlay path as NBT EVO.
NBT EVO ID4
ID4 belongs to the NBT EVO family, but it uses a different software environment from ID5 and ID6. Some requested functions may require a separate firmware upgrade or another method. Do not assume an ID5/ID6 code or result applies unchanged to ID4.
NBT EVO ID5 / ID6
These units commonly support FSC-based functions such as compatible Apple CarPlay activation and full-screen support. The exact result still depends on firmware, the existing FSC state and required hardware such as a usable WLAN/Wi-Fi antenna. Some older EVO firmware uses a separate USB activation method; later workflows may require ENET and a laptop.
EntryNav2 / EntryEvo
EntryNav2 is a separate head-unit family. Its codes and procedures are not interchangeable with NBT EVO. CarPlay support depends on the actual software and WLAN hardware, so two similar-looking vehicles may require different solutions. The normal Feature Installer method for this platform uses ENET and a compatible laptop.
MGU ID7 / ID8
MGU is a different platform and is not automatically included in the linked NBT, NBT EVO and EntryNav2 FSC-code product. MGU services use their own compatibility rules and methods. Do not order the main Feature Installer product for an MGU vehicle unless the exact function and method have been confirmed first.
Functions That May Be Available
Depending on the confirmed head unit and software, supported packages may cover individual FSC codes or FSC packs, Apple CarPlay, compatible full-screen support, navigation activation or restoration, selected BMW apps and online functions, firmware-specific CarPlay fixes and Video in Motion where technically supported and legally permitted.
A successful software import cannot compensate for missing hardware, a damaged head unit, unstable coding, an incorrect region, weak vehicle voltage or a package created for another VIN.
Advanced Functions Require Technical Review
Component-protection work, virginizing or clearing unit data, SSH access, region unlocks, VO-coding correction and black-screen recovery should not be treated as routine one-click activations. These operations can affect FSC certificates, unit identity, navigation, ConnectedDrive functions or the ability of the head unit to start normally.
Advanced work should be selected only after the existing state has been diagnosed and a suitable recovery path has been identified. No software-writing operation should be described as completely risk-free. Video in Motion may also be restricted by local law; the driver must never watch video while driving.
What You Normally Need
- the correct VIN-specific activation package;
- a compatible laptop matching the supplied method;
- an ENET-to-OBD cable when required;
- stable internet and adequate vehicle-battery voltage;
- the exact instructions supplied with the package.
Do not repeatedly import random packages or codes created for another vehicle. If an installation fails, stop and identify the cause before trying again.
