BMW Feature Installer lets you apply a VIN-specific activation code to a supported BMW or MINI head unit using a laptop and an ENET cable. The code determines the service you can activate, such as a Full FSC Pack, Apple CarPlay or another supported function. What BMW Feature Installer does
Feature Installer communicates with the head unit through the vehicle's Ethernet diagnostic connection. You identify the vehicle, enter the code prepared for its VIN and run the selected activation. The iDrive may restart while the application applies the changes.
The Full FSC Packs offered by BimmerTweaks include:
- NBT and NBT EVO ID4: lifetime navigation-map activation for the selected region.
- NBT EVO ID5/ID6 and EntryNav2 / EntryEvo: lifetime navigation-map activation for the selected region, with Apple CarPlay included on compatible units.

Individual CarPlay activations and other services are also listed in the product options. Choose the service you need; when CarPlay is included in your Full FSC Pack, you do not need to buy the same CarPlay activation separately. The application uses the supplied code; it does not generate that code.
Which BMW iDrive systems may be compatible?
Identify the installed head unit before choosing a package. The navigation-map name is a useful clue, while the VIN Check shows the original factory configuration.

What you need before connecting
- The complete VIN, shared privately with the code supplier
- The correct BMW Feature Installer FSC code for that VIN, head unit and requested function
- A reliable ENET-to-OBD cable and any required Ethernet adapter
- A laptop with sleep mode disabled
- Feature Installer version 1.0.14.11 for Windows or Mac
- Stable internet when the selected method requires online validation or remote support
- Stable vehicle voltage; use suitable regulated automotive power support when required
- A record or backup of the current FSC state whenever the procedure allows it

Step-by-step BMW Feature Installer procedure
1. Identify the head unit
Open the navigation version screen and determine whether the unit is NBT, NBT EVO, EntryNav2 or another system. Match it to the relevant package in the table above; ask for confirmation if the unit has been replaced or cannot be identified.
2. Confirm compatibility before buying a code
Start with the VIN Check, then select the required head unit, function and map region where applicable. For wireless CarPlay, confirm the required Wi-Fi hardware. If you need help, send BimmerTweaks the VIN and a photo of the navigation-version screen privately.
3. Prepare the vehicle and laptop
Park safely, switch off unnecessary electrical consumers, prevent the laptop from sleeping and provide stable vehicle voltage. Do not begin with a weak battery or unresolved communication faults. Close other BMW diagnostic or coding applications that could use the same connection.
4. Connect through ENET
Connect the ENET cable to the vehicle's OBD port and to the laptop. Wait for the Ethernet connection to initialize before opening the application.
5. Find your BMW: Find Vehicle → Identify
Open Feature Installer and click Find Vehicle. Select the detected vehicle and check the displayed VIN. Click Identify so the application can read the head-unit information and display the activation-code step.
6. Enter your activation code and click Continue
Copy the activation code supplied for the VIN and service in your order, keeping the format exactly as provided. Enter it in the code window and click Continue. Once the code is accepted, follow the operation supplied for your order.
7. Click Start and wait for completion
After vehicle identification and code acceptance, click Start for the operation you ordered. Follow the execution log and keep the ENET connection, laptop power and vehicle power connected until the completion message. Allow iDrive restarts to finish before checking the activated function.
8. Verify the result
After completion, test the requested function. For CarPlay, verify pairing, audio, microphone operation and reconnection after the vehicle has completed a sleep cycle. Save the result, code and relevant screenshots in case support is needed later.
FSC codes and navigation maps are different
The Full FSC Pack includes lifetime map activation for the selected region. This is the navigation authorization; the map files and their installation are separate when required. Choose the correct map family, region and release for the installed head unit. NEXT, EVO, WAY and LIVE map packages are not interchangeable.
When ordering a map update as well, confirm whether your order includes the map files and installation or only the activation package.
Safety, limitations and recovery
Use the code for the correct VIN and unit, maintain stable power and keep the connection intact. Wireless CarPlay needs compatible Wi-Fi hardware. Firmware upgrades and hardware repairs are separate services, not a substitute for the activation selected here.
If the application reports an error or detects an unexpected unit, keep the exact message and contact BimmerTweaks before trying another code. Follow the supplied instructions for power and restarts; the next step depends on the unit and the action already performed.
Third-party changes may affect warranty support, dealer programming or later software updates. Video functions must never distract the driver and may be used only where and when legally permitted.
Frequently asked questions
Does Feature Installer generate FSC codes?
No. It applies the actions permitted by a compatible code. The code must be obtained separately for the correct VIN, head unit and requested feature.
Is Feature Installer an official BMW application?
The utility discussed here is a third-party solution. BimmerTweaks is an independent BMW and MINI software service provider and is not affiliated with BMW AG or MINI.
Can one activation code be used on another vehicle?
Your code is prepared for the VIN, head unit and service in your order. A different vehicle needs its own compatibility check and the appropriate code.
Does CarPlay work without Wi-Fi hardware?
Wireless CarPlay requires compatible hardware. Software activation cannot add a missing Wi-Fi interface or antenna.
Can Feature Installer upgrade NBT EVO ID4 to ID6?
An ID4-to-ID6 conversion can require a firmware flash and additional checks. It is a separate service from installing an activation code.
Can a dealer update remove an activation?
Later programming can change the activation state. The result depends on the head unit, activation method and software work performed.
How long does activation take?
Duration varies with the unit, requested function, connection and preparation. Follow the supplied procedure and allow time for the application to confirm completion and for the final function checks.
